On the Yakutia — the 4th nuclear icebreaker of the 22220-series, the central compartment equipment is being installed01.12.2020
The 22220 series the first icebreaker is already operating on the Northeast Passage, guiding vessels through the freezing Arctic. The 2nd and 3rd icebreakers Siberia and Ural are pulled on the water, and the 22220 series the 4th nuclear-powered icebreaker-Yakutia is only planned to be pulled on the water in November 2022. Currently, the Yakutia icebreaker is installing equipment for the central compartment where the nuclear reactors will be located.
We will continue to monitor how new nuclear-powered icebreakers are being built and whether they will be able to replace the icebreakers that were built in the Soviet era in time.
