At least that’s what the regional authorities say. In addition, the authorities claim that the maximum permissible concentration of petroleum products and heavy metals is repeatedly exceeded where diesel got into the soil and water. So far, there is no talks of land reclamation and biodiversity restoration. Local residents, Arctic indigenous and small peoples representatives, whose traditional way of life was destroyed along with the environment, did not receive any help from the environmental disaster culprit — the company Norilsk Nickel. Arctic indigenous peoples representatives appealed to Elon Musk with a request not to buy Norilsk Nickel products.
