The visible pollutants collection from the Ambarnaya river surface has been completed near Norilsk. We receive reports on the work main stage completion.22.06.2020
Let me remind you that near Norilsk, 21 thousand tons of diesel fuel spilled out of the Norilsk Nickel daughter reservoir — TPP-3 at the end of May 2020. Most of it (about 17 thousand tons) got into the rivers. About 4 km. booms on rivers managed to be installed only in a place near the confluence of the Ambarnaya river with lake Pyasino, which is connected to the Kara sea via the Pyasina river.
Gazprom Neft employees, who took part in cleaning the river, report that the riverbed has been cleared of fuel stains. This means that we can talk about cleaning the water from visible contamination. What settled along the banks, got into lake Pyasino and the Pyasina river, has not yet been cleared and, apparently, cleaning is not planned.
«Our emergency rescue team successfully coped with the priority task-to stop the spilled fuel movement to the Kara sea, as well as to clear the Ambarnaya riverbed. I have no doubt that our environmental specialists experience and knowledge will be very useful in solving this region restoring the nature problems»,-Viktor Sorokin, Head of the Production Safety Department of Gazprom Neft. However, in the lake Pyasino diesel got, it was recognized by the Krasnoyarsk territory authorities. And, given the fact that there were no barriers in the lake, diesel fuel got into the Pyasina river, which means that it will reach (or has already reached) the Kara sea.
